What are the best times for the night prayer?
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : We conclude this session, esteemed Shaykh Muhammad, with a question from one of the listening brothers. He says: What are the best times for the night prayer? Sometimes I pray it at the beginning of the night, and sometimes half an hour before the Fajr prayer. Please advise me on this question?
The Shaykh : The best time for the night prayer is from after the middle of the night until one-sixth of the night remains. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) informed us that the best standing in prayer is the standing of Dawud (peace be upon him). He would sleep half the night, stand in prayer for one-third of the night, and sleep for one-sixth of it. This is the best. If this is facilitated, then that is it. If it is not facilitated, then praying at the end of the night is better than praying at the beginning of the night.
The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh, and may Allah bless you and your knowledge, and benefit the Muslims through you.
