The questioner : This questioner, Muhammad Ahmad al-Bahrain, actually, we reviewed one of his questions in a previous session, and this question remained for him. He says, “May the Shaykh be respected, I ask about a man who, when I remind him of the matters of the Hereafter, such as the resurrection, Paradise, and the Fire, denies them and says, ‘When we die, we become dust and are not resurrected,’ and I do not know whether he says this out of his belief or in jest, knowing that he prays?”
The Shaykh : Yes. If he says this, then he is a disbeliever. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:[At-Taghabun 64:7] And the scholars (may Allah have mercy on them) have mentioned that whoever speaks a word of disbelief is a disbeliever, whether he is serious or joking.
So this man must repent to Allah, believe in the resurrection, ask Allah the Exalted for steadfastness upon that, and ask Allah the Exalted not to turn his heart away after He has guided him, for the hearts are in the hand of Allah, between two fingers of the Most Merciful, and He turns them as He wills. We ask Allah for steadfastness upon the truth and death upon it for everyone, for He is Able to do all things.
The questioner : O Allah, amen. May Allah bless you, O respected Shaykh.
The Shaykh : Yes. If he says this, then he is a disbeliever. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:
Those who disbelieve have claimed that they will never be resurrected. Say, "Yes, by my Lord, you will surely be resurrected; then you will surely be informed of what you did. And that, for Allah, is easy."
زَعَمَ الَّذينَ كَفَروا أَن لَن يُبعَثوا قُل بَلى وَرَبّي لَتُبعَثُنَّ ثُمَّ لَتُنَبَّؤُنَّ بِما عَمِلتُم وَذلِكَ عَلَى اللَّهِ يَسيرٌSo this man must repent to Allah, believe in the resurrection, ask Allah the Exalted for steadfastness upon that, and ask Allah the Exalted not to turn his heart away after He has guided him, for the hearts are in the hand of Allah, between two fingers of the Most Merciful, and He turns them as He wills.
