Follow-up: What is the ruling on turning off the air conditioner, or closing the door, or the clock’s alarm during the Friday sermon, and is it idle talk like one who touches pebbles?

The questioner : Is turning off the air conditioner, turning off the clock’s alarm, and closing the door during the Friday sermon analogous to the hadith:

The Shaykh : No, if this is causing disturbance and a person gets up to turn it off, he is rewarded and doing good. This is unlike one who touches pebbles. By pebbles, it is meant that the Prophet’s (peace and blessings be upon him) mosque was paved with gravel, which are small stones. Some people, for example, would fiddle with it, either rubbing it with their hand, or picking up pebbles and turning them over, or something similar. This is idle talk with no benefit. However, if, for example, the air conditioner is disturbing someone, or he hears a noise and wants to turn it off—just as some of the air conditioners now have a high-pitched sound that disturbs those around him—this is not idle talk. This is removing a source of harm. Yes, that is correct.
