What is your opinion of the secularists who attack the religion because of the mistakes of some of the youth of the awakening?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Your Eminence, we observe in these days that some secularists, journalists, and others have launched a war against this religion and, in particular, against the youth of this blessed awakening. This is solely due to the individual actions of those who claim affiliation with this awakening, who hold foreign ideas, and whose owners do not represent even a small fraction of this awakening. What is your opinion regarding the exploitation of this target by some of the weak-hearted and the generalization of it to the youth of the awakening and the disparagement of them?

The Shaykh : My opinion is that this is a mistake, but it is expected from the people of evil. The people of evil seize the opportunity to find a mistake by some of those affiliated with the awakening. This is the Sunnah of Allah; there must be an extreme side to counter the other side. Had they followed moderation, we would have been safe from these things. However, the actions of some of those who claim affiliation with the awakening compelled these open sinners to act and seize the opportunity. It has been reported to me that when the Minister of Interior spoke about the matter, he made an exception and said: "This that happened is not general to all the youth." This is good. But the people of injustice and open sinfulness do not speak with justice; rather, they generalize. They may have spoken of something greater than that, as is known to those who follow the newspapers. In other words, they do not direct their speech to the deviation of some of the youth, but they want radical change in important matters in our society and our religion. This is a matter from which one must guard oneself. It is obligatory for those to whom Allah has given a word to prevent these people from achieving their objectives. We ask Allah the Exalted to protect this land from evil and fitnah, and to keep us all from error.
