The hadith (When Allah created Adam, He wiped a portion and said, "These are for the Fire," then He wiped another portion and said, "These are for Paradise"): How is the response to the Jabriyyah in this?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah preserve you. Regarding the hadith whose meaning is
That when Allah created Adam, He wiped a portion and said: "These are for the Fire," then He wiped another portion and said: "These are for Paradise" إن الله لما خلق آدم مسح مسحة فقال : هؤلاء للنار ثم مسح مسحة أخرى فقال : هؤلاء للجنة

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : How is the response to the Jabriyyah if they cite this hadith as evidence?

The Shaykh : Regarding this hadith, scholars have differed on its validity; is it authentic?
That when Allah the Exalted created Adam, He wiped his back and brought forth his progeny from it and said: "These are for the Fire, and I do not care," and "These are for Paradise, and I do not care" أن الله تعالى لما خلق آدم مسح ظهره وأخرج منه ذريته وقال : هؤلاء إلى النار ولا أبالي وهؤلاء إلى الجنة ولا أبالي
There is extensive discussion by scholars on this, and it is not a proof for the Jabriyyah. This is because a person does what he wills by his own choice. Does any one of us know that he is among the people of the Fire or among the people of Paradise? Answer: No one knows. If he does not know, why does he proceed to do the deeds of the people of the Fire? Why does he not consider himself to be among the people of Paradise and do the deeds of the people of Paradise? So there is no proof for the Jabriyyah in all the texts that indicate that Allah the Exalted wrote the decrees of all things before He created the heavens and the earth by fifty thousand years. For we say to them: What is your evidence? Yes, we say to the disobedient person, or the one who says: "I am compelled," what is your evidence that Allah the Exalted created you from among the people of the Fire? No one is able to know, for the divine decree is a hidden secret, my brothers. The divine decree is a hidden secret; it is not known except when what? Except when it occurs.
no soul perceives what it will earn tomorrow وَمَا تَدْرِي نَفْسٌ مَاذَا تَكْسِبُ غَداً
[Luqman 31:34]
So there is no proof for the Jabriyyah in the texts indicating that everything is written and decreed. You love...

The questioner : Your Eminence, the Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : The previous Hajj.

The Shaykh : Take the recording.
