I have an older sister who has a brother through breastfeeding, and she has not seen him for more than 20 years. She is now married. Is it obligatory for her husband to take her to him so she can maintain ties with him?

The questioner : So there is a question, O honorable Shaykh, related to what you said, may Allah preserve you. The questioner says: I have an older sister who has a brother through breastfeeding, and she has not seen him for more than twenty years. She is now married. Is it obligatory for her husband to take her to him so she can maintain ties with him and ask about his condition? He lives in another city, not the city where we live. And is it obligatory for my father to do anything if the husband refuses to let her go to him?

The Shaykh : No, it is not obligatory for the husband to take her to her brother through breastfeeding, and it is not obligatory for her to go either.

The questioner : Very well.

The Shaykh : And it is not permissible for her father to stir up trouble between her and her husband over this brother through breastfeeding.

The questioner : Very well. May Allah reward you.
