The questioner : May Allah reward you with good. Is there a hadith, O Shaykh, regarding the virtue of fasting on Monday?
The Shaykh : Yes, indeed.
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to fast on Mondays and Thursdays. When he was asked about that, he said: "They are two days on which deeds are presented to Allah (Mighty and Majestic), and I love for my deeds to be presented while I am fasting."
كان النبي عليه الصلاة والسلام يصوم يوم الإثنين والخميس فسئل عن ذلك فقال: إنهما يومان تعرض فيهما الأعمال على الله عز وجل وأحب أن يعرض عملي وأنا صائم
He was asked about fasting on Monday, and he said:
This is the day on which I was born and the day on which I was sent (with the Message of Islam) and the day on which I received revelation.
ذاك يوم ولدت فيه وبعثت فيه أو أنزل عليّ فيه Yes.
