Is the prayer of one who wears a garment that reveals or exposes the awrah (the part of the body that must be covered) invalid?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : His EminenceThe Shaykh : Covering the awrah (the part of the body that must be covered) is a condition for the validity of the prayer. So, if a person wears a transparent garment, do we oblige him to repeat the prayer and say: your prayer is invalid?

The Shaykh : Yes, covering the awrah (the part of the body that must be covered) is a condition for the validity of the prayer, based on the saying of Allah the Exalted:
O children of Adam, take your adornment at every masjid يَا بَنِي آدَمَ خُذُوا زِينَتَكُمْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ مَسْجِدٍ
[Al-A'raf 7:31]
If one wears a garment that does not prevent the skin from being seen, he is like a naked person entirely. This garment is forbidden (haram) for him and not permissible. I do not think anyone wears a complete garment that reveals the skin, but it happens that some people wear short trousers, meaning: they do not reach the knee, and wear a transparent garment over them. We say: his prayer is not valid. If he does that, we oblige him to repeat the prayer, because he did not obey the command of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, in His saying:
O children of Adam, take your adornment at every masjid يَا بَنِي آدَمَ خُذُوا زِينَتَكُمْ عِنْدَ كُلِّ مَسْجِد
[Al-A'raf 7:31]
Some scholars have mentioned the consensus (ijma') that if one prays naked while being able to cover his awrah (the part of the body that must be covered), his prayer is invalid.
