The reciter: Shiban ibn Furukh narrated to us, and 'Abd al-'Aziz ibn Muslim narrated to us, and 'Abd Allah ibn Dinar narrated from Ibn 'Umar. And Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, and the wording is his, from Malik ibn Anas, from 'Abd Allah ibn Dinar, from Ibn 'Umar, who said:
On one occasion when the people were praying subhat Quba a man came to them and said, 'A piece of Qur'an was sent down to the Messenger of Allah, may Allah bless him and grant him peace, last night, and he was ordered to face the Kaba, so face it.' They had been facing ash-Sham, so they turned round and faced the Kaba. بينما الناس في صلاة الصبح بقباء إذ جاءهم آت فقال إن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم قد أنزل عليه الليلة وقد أمر أن يستقبل الكعبة فاستقبلوها وكانت وجوههم إلى الشام فاستداروا إلى الكعبة
