The reciter: Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, and Layth narrated to us. And Muhammad ibn Rumh narrated to us, and al-Layth informed us from Abu al-Zubayr from Jabir, who said: .
The Shaykh : In this is evidence that when the imam turns away from the prayer, he turns away either to the right or to the left. Because if the face of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was toward the east, was his turning away toward the left or the right? Now, if the mosque's direction is south and its qiblah is south, then if he faces the east, he turns away to the left. Now, if the south is the qiblah, and his face is toward the east, where is the qiblah? To the right. Therefore, he turned away to the left.
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent me on an errand, and then I caught up with him while he was moving. Qutaybah said: "He was praying." So I greeted him, and he gestured to me. When he finished, he called me and said: "You greeted me just now while I was praying, and at that time he was facing the east."
