The Book of Mosques and Places of Prayer-05b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Hajjaj ibn al-Sha'ir narrated to me, and Harun ibn Isma'il al-Khazzaz narrated to us, and 'Ali, who is ibn al-Mubarak, narrated to us, and Yahya narrated to us, and Abu Salama narrated to us, and Abu Hurayrah narrated
That the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed two rak'ahs of the Zuhr prayer, then he said the taslim. Then a man from Banu Sulaym came to him and said: "O Messenger of Allah, did you shorten the prayer or did you forget?" أن رسول الله صلى الله عليه وسلم صلى ركعتين من صلاة الظهر ثم سلم فأتاه رجل من بنى سليم فقال : يا رسول الله أقصرت الصلاة أم نسيت
And he continued the hadith.

The Shaykh : The wording before that was definitely the 'Asr prayer, and this is the Zuhr prayer. And it seems, and Allah knows best, that this is the reason why Sufyan said: "One of the two evening prayers," combining the two narrations.
