Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : What is your response to one who gives a box of perfume to another woman? Is this permissible, knowing that the giver or the recipient goes out into the street wearing this perfume? And does the giver of the gift incur sin?
The Shaykh : Giving perfume to a woman is permissible in principle, because a gift brings about affection and removes ill will, and the giver receives reward. However, if the recipient uses it in a forbidden manner, the sin is upon her.
But if the recipient is known to go out to the markets wearing perfume and that she will use this perfume for going out to the markets, then it is not permissible to give her any perfume, because that falls under the category of assisting in sin and transgression. And Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said:[Al-Ma'idah 5:2].
The questioner : May Allah bless you.
