The Book of Mosques and Places of Prayer-08b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, saying: Layth narrated to us. And Muhammad ibn Rumh narrated to us, saying: Al-Layth informed us from Ibn Shihab from Ibn al-Musayyib and Abu Salama ibn 'Abd al-Rahman from Abu Hurayrah, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
When it is very hot, then wait for it to cool down before you pray, for intense heat is from the flaring up of the Hell-fire. إذا اشتد الحر فأبردوا بالصلاة فإن شدة الحر من فيح جهنم
Sunan Ibn Majah 677Sahih (Darussalam)
.

The Shaykh : "When the heat becomes intense" means during the days of summer. "Delay the prayer" means perform it at a time when the weather cools down. This is the ruling. The explanation of the cause is that he said:
for intense heat is from the flaring up of the Hell-fire فإن شدة الحر من فيح جهنم
Sunan Ibn Majah 679Sahih (Darussalam)
The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) clarified how this is the case by stating that the fire complained to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) about the heat and cold, so He allowed it two breaths: one in winter, which is the most severe of the bitter cold we experience, and one in summer, which is the most severe of the heat we experience. However, regarding the delay, is it postponing the prayer from the beginning of its time by an hour or more or less? We will come to know, if Allah wills, that it extends until a time close to the 'Asr prayer.
