Is it valid for a person to pray some of the rak'ahs of the witr prayer and then complete the remainder at the end of the night, or must the rak'ahs of the witr prayer be consecutive?

The questioner : Is it valid for me to pray some of the rak'ahs of the witr prayer and then sleep and complete the remainder at the end of the night, or must the rak'ahs of the witr prayer be consecutive with one another? Please inform me about this question; may you be rewarded.

The Shaykh : It is not required that the rak'ahs of the witr prayer be consecutive; rather, it is permissible to pray some of the witr before sleeping and some of it after waking up.
