Benefits of the Hadith Regarding the Disagreement Between 'Ali and 'Uthman on Mut'ah.

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In this is evidence that disagreement in knowledge and rank occurs between the great scholars, but this does not result in disagreement in the hearts, unlike the state of some people today, whom you find that if their companion disagrees with them on something, it becomes a source of resentment in their heart. This is from the whispers of Satan. It is obligatory that if your brother disagrees with you on something, you discuss it with him and look at what he has, for he may have knowledge that you do not have. Then, if you both reach an agreement, that is what is sought, meaning you agreed on a single opinion, and that is what is sought. Otherwise, each of you has his own opinion, and in this case, it is not said that you have disagreed, because each of you followed a path that he believed to be the truth. So let each of you excuse the other.
