Explanation of the Book of Hajj-05a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Ya'qub ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, Ibn 'Ulayyah narrated to us, Ayub informed us from Nafi' who said: "Ibn 'Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both), when he entered the outer part of the Haram, would cease the talbiyah, then spend the night at Dhu al-Hula, then pray Fajr there, and take a bath, and he reported that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to do that"

The Shaykh : His statement (may Allah be pleased with him) "he used to do that" refers to the bath, not to ceasing the talbiyah, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) continued to recite the talbiyah until he stoned the Jamarat al-Aqabah. In this, there is evidence—meaning in this hadith—that the reference may return to only part of what is referenced. Otherwise, if we took its apparent meaning, we would say that the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) used to stop the talbiyah when he entered the Haram. Yes.
