Explanation: “And let not the hatred of a people for having kept you from al-Masjid al-Haram lead you to act with injustice”

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram lead you to transgress ولا يجرمنكم شنآن قوم أن صدوكم عن المسجد الحرام أن تعتدوا
[Al-Ma'idah 5:2]
Rather, you must uphold justice, even toward those people you hate, as Allah the Exalted said:
O you who have believed, be persistently standing firm for Allah, witnesses in justice, and do not let the hatred of a people prevent you from being just يا أيها الذين آمنوا كونوا قوامين لله شهداء بالقسط ولا يجرمنكم شنآن قوم على ألا تعدلوا
[Al-Ma'idah 5:8]
Therefore, it is not permissible for a person to allow his hatred of someone to lead him to injustice, aggression, and abandoning justice. Look at 'Abdullah ibn Rawahah, whom the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) sent to Khaybar to assess the date harvest from the Jews. He said to them: “I have come to you from the most beloved of people to me, and you are the most hateful to me of all people, more hateful than the monkeys and the swine”. Allahu Akbar, yes. “And my hatred for you and my love for him should not prevent me from being just”. May Allah have mercy on him and may He be pleased with him. This is justice, for it is obligatory to uphold justice toward anyone among people. If it is due to a father, it is due to the father; if it is due to oneself, it is due to oneself; if it is due to an enemy, it is due to the enemy; if it is due to a friend, it is due to the friend. For this reason, He said:
And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram lead you to transgress ولا يجرمنكم شنآن قوم أن صدوكم عن المسجد الحرام أن تعتدوا
[Al-Ma'idah 5:2]
Even though being prevented from al-Masjid al-Haram is not a trivial matter for the soul. A person comes calling out to Allah the Mighty and Majestic, “Labbaik Allahumma Labbaik,” with sacrificial animals, intending to reach the House to draw near to Allah the Mighty and Majestic, and then he is prevented, though he is the most deserving of this House. This is difficult for souls, very difficult. For this reason, 'Umar ibn al-Khattab and those of his stature did not bear it. He said: “We did not accept humiliation in our religion. A people who prevent us from the mosque, though they were not its guardians. Its guardians are none but the righteous.” And we did not come except for 'Umrah. We did not come with weapons; we came with sacrificial animals to offer in the sacred precinct, from which the first to benefit would be the poor of Quraysh. And yet they prevented them, may Allah protect us from that. This would leave resentment and grudges in the heart, unless faith in Allah the Mighty and Majestic and the hope of reward erase them. For this reason, He said here:
And do not let the hatred of a people for having obstructed you from al-Masjid al-Haram lead you to transgress ولا يجرمنكم شنآن قوم أن صدوكم عن المسجد الحرام أن تعتدوا
[Al-Ma'idah 5:2]
