Is wearing the turban a recommended practice?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : O Shaykh, is wearing the turban a recommended practice?

The Shaykh : Yes.

The questioner : Is wearing the turban a recommended practice established from the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him)?

The Shaykh : No, wearing the turban is not a recommended practice, but it is a custom. The recommended practice for every person is to wear what people wear, as long as it is not forbidden in itself. We say this is the recommended practice because if one wore something different from what people are accustomed to, that would be ostentation, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade ostentation. So, if we are in a country where people wear turbans, we wear turbans, and if we are in a country where they do not wear them, we do not wear them. I think Muslim countries differ today; in some countries, wearing turbans is more common, and in others, it is the opposite. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) used to wear the turban because it was customary in his time. For this reason, he did not command it, but rather forbade the clothing of ostentation, indicating that the recommended practice in clothing is for a person to follow what people are accustomed to, unless it is forbidden.
So, if we suppose that people became accustomed to wearing silk and they are men, we would say: What is this? Is it forbidden, or do we agree with them? And if we were in a country where men are accustomed to wearing garments that hang below the ankles, we would say: This is forbidden, do not agree with them. Do you understand? Yes.

The questioner : ...

The Shaykh : When the guests are finished, the guests are finished, we start from the right. Do you have anything?
