Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Recently, drugs have appeared that make a dark-skinned woman white. Is taking them or taking such drugs forbidden on the basis of altering Allah’s creation or form?

The Shaykh : Yes, it is forbidden as long as it changes the skin color in a permanent way, for it resembles tattooing. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cursed the one who tattoos and the one who gets tattooed.
However, if it is to remove a defect, such as an ugly black mole on the skin, and a person uses something to remove it, then there is nothing wrong with that.
Therefore, we must know the difference between what is adopted for adornment and beautification and what is adopted to remove a defect. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) permitted the Companion whose nose was cut off to attach a nose made of gold to remove the defect caused by the cutting of the nose. He also cursed the one who files her teeth and the one who gets her teeth filed, which is when she files her teeth with a file to make them pointed or similar. But if, hypothetically, there is a difference in the alignment of the teeth, with some protruding and some receding in a way that disfigures the appearance of the teeth, then there is nothing wrong with adopting something to make them aligned and even.

The questioner : May Allah reward you with good, O honorable Shaykh.
