What does the Prophet's (peace and blessings be upon him) description of the Khawarij with the mentioned characteristics, such as their abundance of worship, indicate?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Your Eminence, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) described the Khawarij with specific or defined characteristics, among which is their abundance of prayer and worship. What does this indicate? Is it for the sake of this world, or what?

The Shaykh : Yes, he described them as being engaged in worship, reciting the Qur'an, and so on. May Allah protect us, they have extreme strictness in religion, but this religion has not reached their hearts. And this is found, may Allah reward you, in those who occupy themselves with the faults of people and call out their faults. You find their heart empty of connection to Allah (Mighty and Majestic). So they circle around the world, asking what happened and what did not happen? Then they find in their heart a burning jealousy that consumes them. But if you return to them regarding their turning to Allah (Mighty and Majestic) and their connection to Allah, you find their heart empty. This is the reason. Therefore, we forbid ourselves, above all else, from making our concern anything other than dealing with the conditions of people, which, if they are not correct, we cannot change to correctness.
And you find that such people see the truth as falsehood, or they see the truth as truth, but it is submerged by a falsehood far greater than it. In other words, they count the things that are criticized and leave the things that are praised, so they go astray and go astray. This is a serious matter, and it does not require me to give you examples of what happened in some Arab countries in terms of evil and fitnah (trial, discord or temptation), because they did not do the matter in its proper way. Yes.
