When should one verify the report of a transmitter?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Ask.

The questioner : May Allah bless you. Some people, or some preachers...

The Shaykh : What do some people do?

The questioner : Some preachers accuse another preacher. When asked about it, he says, "A man known for his knowledge and integrity told me." When you say, "Verify it," he says, "Verification is only required if the transmitter is a fasiq (open sinner)." What is your opinion on this?

The Shaykh : This is correct. His statement is correct on the surface, in that if a trustworthy man informs you, there is no need for verification, because Allah said:
O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate يا أيّها الذين آمنوا إن جاءكم فاسق بنبأ فتبيّنوا
[Al-Hujurat 49:6]
However, a person may be trustworthy but have a bias, which weakens the trust from this aspect. Yes.
