The benefits of his saying: (… He said: So he took out the ring and began to fiddle with it, and it fell… )

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : How did he fiddle with it? It means he had taken it off his hand and was turning it over, for example, or lifting it up and lowering it, or something similar to that.
From this, it is understood that there is nothing wrong with such fiddling. That is to say, if a person has a ring or something else and he is fiddling with it in his hand like this, there is nothing wrong with it.
Likewise, what some people do with the misbaha (prayer beads). Some people fiddle with the misbaha; they lift it up like this or say something with it like this. Yes, there is nothing wrong with it, because as long as something similar to this has been reported from the Commander of the Faithful, 'Uthman ibn 'Affan (may Allah be pleased with him), who is one of the Rightly Guided Caliphs whose Sunnah is to be followed, then what they did on the basis of permissibility has become permissible.
From this, we understand that there is no basis for criticizing those who fiddle with misbahas, because misbahas are, in the opinion of some people, criticized in any case. If a person uses them for counting tasbih and dhikr, they are criticized in his view, and if he uses them for fiddling and to expand the chest, they are also criticized in his view. The correct view is that there is no criticism, neither in this nor in that. However, counting tasbih with the fingers is better than counting with the misbaha, without a doubt. Fiddling with them is also not a problem. Often, sometimes a person fiddles with something other than the misbaha; sometimes he fiddles with keys, sometimes he fiddles with the belt of his cloak, yes, sometimes he fiddles with the end of his turban, saying it like this.
The important point is that these are matters in which Allah has been expansive with His servants and has not placed any hardship upon them in them. And for us to be restrictive with people to this extent over a matter for which we have no report is something that should not be done. Yes.
