Benefits of the Hadith: (… Aisha said: “I used to perfume the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) with the best perfume available, until I would find the residue of the perfume in his head and beard”)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : In this, there is evidence for many benefits, including what we mentioned regarding a woman using perfume with her husband.
Among them is that it is a recommended practice to use a lot of perfume when entering the state of ihram, because she said: “I find the residue of musk in his head and beard while he is in ihram” … in another narration. One should use a lot of perfume on the head and beard until they show a shine and luster.
Among them is that continuing to use perfume while in ihram is not prohibited, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) continued to do so while in ihram.
Among them is that a person touching this perfume while in ihram does no harm, because it is known that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to perform ablution while in ihram. If he performed ablution while in ihram and the perfume was on his head and beard, he would inevitably touch it. In that case, we say that what is prohibited is for the person in ihram to start using perfume or to intentionally transfer the perfume from one part of his body to another, such as taking it from his head with his hand and placing it, for example, on his chest. This is not permissible. However, if he touches something without the intention of touching the perfume, there is nothing wrong with it.
From this, we move to another issue, which is that smelling perfume while in ihram is not a problem. So we do not tell the person in ihram that when he enters the perfumers' market, he must cover his nose so that he does not smell the scent. Rather, we say this is not a problem because the person did not intend it.
Among the benefits of the hadith is also the confirmation of the beard for the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), and there is no doubt about this. Indeed, he (may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him) had a great, wide, and thick beard, may the prayers and peace of Allah be upon him. His brothers among the prophets were on this path and this guidance, which is the guidance of the fitrah (the innate natural disposition) with which Allah created the children of Adam. But those whom the devils have led astray and whose hearts have deviated from this fitrah go and shave it, may Allah protect us, deviating from the path of the prophets, messengers, and righteous people to the path of the polytheists, the Zoroastrians, the Jews, and the Christians. This is a matter of sadness, as it has become widespread and prevalent among many Muslims, to the extent that in some Islamic countries, they force those who seek their protection to commit this sin. How so? They force those who seek their protection to commit this sin. How? They force the army, which is the shield of the country and its defender, and the defender of its religion, to disobey Allah. They say, “You must shave your beard.” If he did not shave his beard every day, he would find the punishment and retribution. It is not enough to shave it, for example, every Friday. No, you have to come every day with your beard shaved, may Allah protect us.
So, the soldier is forced to disobey Allah the Exalted, and he is the one by whom victory over the enemy is hoped for? The reversal of realities among some Muslims. We ask Allah for safety. We say that the noblest army on the face of the earth since the creation of Adam until the Hour is the army whose leader and commander is the Messenger of Allah, Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him). And they were defeated by disobedience at Uhud, where Allah the Exalted said:
until [the time] when you lost courage and fell to disputing about the order [given by the Prophet] and disobeyed after He had shown you that which you love حَتّى إِذا فَشِلتُم وَتَنازَعتُم فِي الأَمرِ وَعَصَيتُم مِن بَعدِ ما أَراكُم ما تُحِبّونَ
[Ali 'Imran 3:152]
meaning that such and such happened, and the defeat occurred. So what about an army that is told every day, “Disobey Allah and His Messenger,” may Allah protect us? Is it possible for there to be victory? No, and the matter and reality bear witness to the fact that there is no victory while we are in this state, ever.
Look at the brothers who are striving in Afghanistan. You will find them holding on to this Sunnah (the Prophet's way). We do not say that they are holding on to every Sunnah, but most of them, and praise be to Allah, are holding on to this Sunnah, especially their leaders and commanders. And we hope that they will be upright upon the Shari'ah (Islamic sacred law) of Allah in everything, present and future. But my point is, did it harm them? It did not harm them, and it did not prevent them from moving forward. Rather, it increased their enthusiasm, activity, honor, and pride in their religion and in what they followed the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) in. Allah is the Helper.
To the men with perfume, and she is in the howdah, far from the men, or perhaps she washes it, we do not know. The important thing is that the hadiths are clear in this, decisive, and evident. A woman does not perfume herself and go out to the men. And the action of Aisha must be understood as a situation where she is not in the state of the prohibition. Yes.
