The reciter: Ali ibn Abdullah narrated to us, Abu Safwan Abdullah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, Yunus informed us from Ibn Shihab, who said: Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib informed me that Abu Hurayrah (may Allah be pleased with him) said: I heard the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) say: Sahih al-Bukhari 6420 Al-Layth said from Yunus, and Ibn Wahb from Yunus from Ibn Shihab, who said: Sa'id and Abu Salama informed me.
And Muslim ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, saying: Hisham narrated to us, saying: Qatadah narrated to us from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said: Shu'bah narrated it from Qatadah.
The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest. The Messenger (may Allah's prayer and peace be upon him) spoke the truth. As a person grows older, his love for this world increases and his hope increases. You find that life is very precious to the old man, while you find it cheap to the young man. The young man gives himself away and does not care, but the old man is stingy with his life. The longer his life becomes, the stronger his hope becomes. The first part of the hadith mentions love of this world, and the second part mentions love of wealth. The first is more comprehensive and general, because it includes love of this world in terms of palaces, pride, wealth, status, leadership, women, and so on. The second, love of wealth, is more specific, so the first is broader. This is the reality. It is mentioned that a man was told, "O Abu So-and-so, you have reached sixty-three years, which is the age of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), and there is blessing in it." He said, "Yes, there is blessing in the age of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), but let us start from today." Meaning, if he starts from today, how much will he have? One hundred and twenty-six. He wanted one hundred and twenty-six years. He was not satisfied with sixty-three years. He meant to say that the age of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) is good and blessed, but let us start from today.
The heart of an old man remains young in two respects, i.e., his love for the world (its wealth, amusements and luxuries) and his incessant hope.
لا يزال قلب الكبير شاباً في اثنتين في حب الدنيا وطول الأملAnd Muslim ibn Ibrahim narrated to us, saying: Hisham narrated to us, saying: Qatadah narrated to us from Anas (may Allah be pleased with him), saying: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
As a son of Adam grows old, two things grow old with him: love of wealth and long life
