Explanation of the Book of the Heart—01b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Qutaybah narrated to us, saying: Ya'qub ibn 'Abd al-Rahman narrated to us from 'Amr from Sa'id al-Maqburi from Abu Hurayrah that the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah, the Exalted, says: 'I have no reward except Jannah for a believing slave of Mine who shows patience and anticipates My reward when I take away his favourite one from the inhabitants of the world يقول الله تعالى ما لعبدي المؤمن عندي جزاء إذا قبضت صفيه من أهل الدنيا ثم احتسبه إلا الجنة
Riyad as-Salihin 923
.

The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest. The point of interest is in His saying:
and he accepts it with patience ثم احتسبه
. The meaning of "he accepts it with patience" is that he intended the reward of the Hereafter, as it came in the authentic hadith:
Whoever observes fasts during the month of Ramadan out of sincere faith, and hoping to attain Allah's rewards من صام رمضان إيماناً واحتساباً
Sahih al-Bukhari 38
, because it is derived from the word "accounting." So one who accepts it with patience means he intended the reward of the Hereafter. And "beloved one" means: one who is among the select people in his regard, such as a son, a daughter, a father, a mother, or the like.
