Does the one who says "There is no god but Allah" without performing any deed enter Paradise? That is, he says it with his tongue, because there is a hadith that says: (By My Majesty and My Glory, I will surely bring out of the Fire every person who says "There is no god but Allah")

The questioner : Does the one who says: "There is no god but Allah," without performing any deed, enter Paradise? That is, he says it with his tongue, because there is a hadith, in the sense of which it says:
By My Majesty and My Glory, I will surely bring out of the Fire every person who says "There is no god but Allah"
And Allah knows best, and may you have abundant thanks?

The Shaykh : Praise be to Allah, Lord of the worlds, and may peace and blessings be upon our Prophet Muhammad, and upon his family and his Companions, and those who follow them in excellence until the Day of Judgment:
The phrase "There is no god but Allah" is a great word; if the heavens and the earth were weighed against it, it would outweigh them. Its meaning is that there is no true object of worship except Allah, so everything that is worshipped besides Allah is invalid, as Allah the Exalted said:
That is because Allah is the Truth, and that which they call upon other than Him is falsehood, and because Allah is the Most High, the Grand.
[Al-Hajj 22:62]
Worship is not limited to bowing or prostration; that is, a person may worship other than Allah without bowing to it or prostrating to it, but he places his love of it above his love of Allah and his exaltation of it above his exaltation of Allah, and its word becomes greater in his heart than the word of Allah. For this reason, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Let the slave of Dinar and Dirham, of Quantify and Khamisa perish as he is pleased if these things are given to him, and if not, he is displeased. Let such a person perish and relapse, and if he is pierced with a thorn, let him not find anyone to take it out for him.
Sahih al-Bukhari 2887
He made the dinar a master and the dirham a master, and the mattress a master and the cloak a master. The mattress is the bed, and the cloak is the covering. Although these people do not worship the dirham or the dinar, nor do they bow to it or prostrate to it, they exalt it more than they exalt Allah (Mighty and Majestic). To this points the saying of Allah the Exalted:
And [yet], among the people are those who take other than Allah as equals [to Him]. They love them as they [should] love Allah. But those who believe are stronger in love for Allah
[Al-Baqarah 2:165]
.
So this word is a great word containing disavowal of all shirk (associating partners with Allah) and sincerity of oneness of worship and devotion to Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Whoever says it with his tongue and his heart is the one who has truly said it. For this reason, Abu Hurayrah said: O Messenger of Allah! Who is the most happy of people with your intercession? He said:
the one who said sincerely from the bottom of his heart "None has the right to be worshipped but Allah."
Sahih al-Bukhari 99
And in the hadith of 'Utbah ibn Malik, the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Indeed, Allah has forbidden the Fire for whoever says there is no god but Allah, seeking thereby the Face of Allah
Sahih Ibn Khuzaymah 3:173
So sincerity is necessary.
As for the one who says it with his tongue without his heart being certain of it, it will not benefit him, because the hypocrites remember Allah and say "There is no god but Allah," as Allah the Exalted said:
And when they stand for prayer, they stand lazily, showing [themselves to] the people and not remembering Allah except a little,
[An-Nisa 4:142]
.
And they testify to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) as a messenger, as Allah the Exalted said:
When the hypocrites come to you, [O Muhammad], they say, "We testify that you are the Messenger of Allah." And Allah knows that you are His Messenger, and Allah testifies that the hypocrites are liars.
[Al-Munafiqun 63:1]
So their testimony that there is no god but Allah and their testimony that Muhammad is the Messenger of Allah did not benefit them, because they did not say that from the heart and with sincerity.
So whoever says this word without sincerity, it will not benefit him and will not increase him from Allah the Exalted except distance. So we ask Allah for us and for our Muslim brothers to be certain of it and to act in accordance with its requirements. Indeed, He is capable of all things.

The questioner : O Allah, amen.
