Does a person supplicate that he not have wealth so that he is not tested with it, or is it better to supplicate that he have wealth and be grateful?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : Some of them supplicate that they not have wealth so that they are not tested with it?

The Shaykh : So what?

The questioner : So that he is not tested with it. Is this better than supplicating that he have wealth and be grateful?

The Shaykh : Does he not say in his prayer, "And provide for me"?

The questioner : How?

The Shaykh : He says: "And provide for me."

The questioner : He returns to the last thing and says...

The Shaykh : Here, do not provide for me.

The questioner : No, he says that it is better for him without wealth, so that he is not held accountable for wealth.

The Shaykh : Never. If Allah provides a person with wealth, and he benefits the Muslims with it and keeps his face away from people, that is better. But if he is afflicted and prevented, and he is patient, that is undoubtedly better.

The questioner : Is it taken from this situation that it was revealed to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him)?

The Shaykh : What is it?

The questioner : That it was revealed to the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) regarding their condition?

The Shaykh : No, but we say that the Messenger knew of their condition because they were his Companions.
