Explanation of the Book of the Hearts-05b

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna narrated to us, Ghandar narrated to us, Shu'bah narrated to us from 'Abd al-Malik ibn 'Umar from Abu Salama from Abu Hurayrah from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who said:
The truest verse recited by a poet is: "Behold! apart from Allah everything is vain," أصدق بيت قاله الشاعر ألا كل شيء ما خلا الله باطل
Sahih Muslim 2256c
.

The Shaykh : Yes, this is the most truthful thing, the most truthful word spoken by a poet, and in one wording, as here, it is a verse: "Know that everything, except Allah, is false". Everything is false except Allah. This is like the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Everything will be destroyed except His Face كل شيء هالك إلا وجهه
[Al-Qasas 28:88]
The meaning of "false" here is that which departs, that which is lost and of no benefit, except Allah (Mighty and Majestic), for He is the Truth, and what is done for Him is the Truth, it remains, for it is the reward of the Hereafter, and it is permanent. Yes, in the hadith, this is evidence for the permissibility of citing poetry, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) cited it. It is also evidence for accepting the truth from whoever brings it, even if he is a poet, or an open sinner, or otherwise, and this is clear. And Allah the Exalted said:
O you who have believed, if there comes to you a disobedient one with information, investigate يا أيها الذين ءامنوا إِنْ جاءكم فاسق بنبأ فتبينوا
[Al-Hujurat 49:6]
So when it becomes clear to us that his report is valid, it is obligatory for us to accept it. Yes.

The questioner : O Shaykh: We mentioned that diseases are divided into two categories: the disease of doubts and the disease of desires.

The Shaykh : Yes

The questioner : I do not know if doubts are included in desires here in this hadith?
The Shaykh : Where

The questioner : The Fire is surrounded

The Shaykh :
It is veiled by desires. حجبت بالشهوات

The questioner : By desires?

The Shaykh : Yes,

The questioner : And also by doubts.

The Shaykh : No, a person may be excused regarding doubts. A person may be excused regarding doubts due to his lack of knowledge, but desire does not occur except with knowledge.

The questioner : A doubt may be forgiven.

The Shaykh : Yes, one is excused for it.
