Explanation of the Book of the Heart—09a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Yusuf ibn Musa narrated to me, Jarrir narrated to us from al-A'mash from Abu Salih from Abu Sa'id, who said: The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Allah will say, 'O Adam!. Adam will reply, 'Labbaik and Sa`daik (I respond to Your Calls, I am obedient to Your orders), wal Khair fi Yadaik (and all the good is in Your Hands)!' Then Allah will say (to Adam), Bring out the people of the Fire.' Adam will say, 'What (how many) are the people of the Fire?' Allah will say, 'Out of every thousand (take out) nine hundred and ninety-nine (persons).' At that time children will become hoary-headed and every pregnant female will drop her load (have an abortion) and you will see the people as if they were drunk, yet not drunk; But Allah's punishment will be very severe." يقول الله يا آدم فيقول لبيك وسعديك والخير في يديك قال : يقول : أخرج بعث النار قال : وما بعث النار ؟ قال من كل ألف تسع مائة وتسعةً وتسعين فذاك حين يشيب الصغير وتضع كل ذات حمل حملها وترى الناس سكرى وما هم بسكرى ولكن عذاب الله شديد
Sahih al-Bukhari 6530
This was distressing to them, so they said: "O Messenger of Allah, which one of us is that man?" He said:
Good tidings for you, Yajuj Majuj would be those thousands (who would be the denizens of Hell) and a person (selected for Paradise) would be amongst you.
Sahih Muslim 222a
Then he said:
BY Him in Whose Hand is my life, I wish you would constitute one-third of the inhabitants of Paradise.
Sahih Muslim 222a
So we praised Allah and magnified Him, then he said:
By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I hope that you will be one half of the people of Paradise, as your (Muslims) example in comparison to the other people (non-Muslims), is like that of a white hair on the skin of a black ox, or a round hairless spot on the foreleg of a donkey.
Sahih al-Bukhari 6530

The Shaykh : Allah is the Greatest. Yes, this hadith is more complete than the previous hadith of Ibn Mas'ud. In it, Allah says: "O Adam," and he says: "Here I am, at your service, and good is in Your hands." In this, there is clear text that the speech of Allah the Exalted is with a heard voice and with letters, because His saying "O Adam" is a word, or words, composed of letters, composed of letters, and with a voice, because Adam heard it, and for this reason he said: "Here I am, at your service." The meaning of "Labbayk" is a response to you after a response. The intention is not duplication, but rather absolute repetition. It is like His saying:
Then return [your] vision twice again. [Your] vision will return to you humbled while it is fatigued.
[Al-Mulk 67:4]
"Twice" does not mean only two times, but rather a time after a time. It is an absolute object, an absolute object, but its extra letters were deleted. That is, it is from "alaba" in a place, if he resided in it. If it were a verbal noun, he would say "ilbabayn," "ilbabayn," because "alaba" is a quadriliteral verb and the verbal noun of a quadriliteral verb is on the pattern of if'al. That is, the verbal noun of "alaba" is
The reciter: Ilbab

The Shaykh : Ilbab, but its extra letters were deleted, so it became "Labbayk." It is an absolute object, in the accusative case as an absolute object. "Wa sa'dayk" means: happiness after happiness. The origin of happiness is assistance and help. It is an expression of a person showing his loyalty to Allah Mighty and Majestic, and his support for His religion. As for His saying "good is in Your hands," its meaning is clear, meaning that all good is in the hand of Allah Mighty and Majestic. He is the One who gives it to whom He wills. So Allah Mighty and Majestic says: "Bring out the group destined for the Fire." "Ba'th" is a verbal noun meaning the name of the one who is sent, i.e., the one sent to the Fire, meaning those who are sent to the Fire. He said: "Who is the group destined for the Fire?" He said: "Out of every thousand, nine hundred or nine?" Nine, because what follows is "and ninety," nine hundred and ninety-nine, out of every thousand, nine hundred and ninety-nine. And what remains?
The reciter: One

The Shaykh : One out of the thousand. He said: "That is when the young person will grow old, and every pregnant woman will drop her load, and you will see the people in a state of intoxication, but they are not intoxicated, but rather the punishment of Allah is severe." This was distressing to them.
The reciter: Intoxicated

The Shaykh : Yes
The reciter: Intoxicated

The Shaykh : Intoxicated. Yes, a recitation. And you will see the people in a state of intoxication, but they are not intoxicated, but rather the punishment of Allah is severe. You will see the people in a state of intoxication due to the disturbance of their behavior and actions, as if they are acting without minds, because of the intensity of the terror. And they are not intoxicated, meaning there is no actual intoxication in them, but their behavior is the behavior
The reciter: Of the intoxicated

The Shaykh : Of the intoxicated. Good. He said: "This was distressing to them," meaning to the Companions. So they said: "O Messenger of Allah, which one of us is that man?" He said:
Have the good news that one-thousand will be from Gog and Magog
Sahih al-Bukhari 6530
In a version, it is "a thousand," and this is in agreement with the known rules of the Arabic language, because "from you" is the news of "in" which is placed first, and "a thousand" is its name which is placed last, as in His saying:
And indeed, We know that among
[Al-Haqqah 69:49]
And what comes after it?
The reciter: Denying

The Shaykh : Denying, or deniers?
The reciter: Denying

The Shaykh : Denying. This is like it. "In min Ya'juj wa Ma'juj alf" (Among Gog and Magog is a thousand). But if the narration "alf" (a thousand) is correct, it is interpreted as the name of "in" being the pronoun of the matter, the name of "in" is the pronoun of the matter, and the sentence after it is the news. And his saying:
Gog and Magog
They are two tribes. A tribe is named Ya'juj, and a tribe is named Ma'juj. They are two great, large tribes. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
They were not in anything except that they multiplied it.
In this hadith, there is evidence that they are from the children of Adam, that Gog and Magog are from the children of Adam, and it is so, because creation is of three types: angels, jinn, and children of Adam. The angels were created?
The reciter: From light,

The Shaykh : From light. And the jinn?
The reciter: From fire

The Shaykh : From fire. And the children of Adam
The reciter: From clay?

The Shaykh : From clay. And among them are Gog and Magog. Gog and Magog are from the children of Adam, and their shapes are the shapes of the children of Adam. As for what is mentioned in some books that speak about the signs of the Hour, that they are of types, some of them are extremely tall, taking a fish from the bottom of the sea and roasting it in the sun. Yes, yes, this is one. And some of them are very short, so that ten of them ride on each other and do not reach the height of a man, and they look at the man and say: "How deep is the bottom of the well." The well, yes. The man, you know him. Yes. And some of them have long ears, spreading one ear as a blanket and covering themselves with the other, and so on of these myths. It is a strange thing. If you consult some books that speak about the signs of the Hour, Glory be to Allah the Great, you will see the most amazing things. All of this is not correct. They are from the children of Adam exactly, their shape is the shape of the children of Adam, and they differ according to the difference of environments, just as environments differ now. You find, for example, some people in the north have large bodies, and in another place they are small, as in East Asia. The important thing is that their difference is like the difference of the children of Adam exactly. And his saying (peace and blessings be upon him):
Among you there is one man, and among them there is a thousand.
Our Shaykh Abd al-Rahman al-Sa'di used this as evidence that Gog and Magog include all disbelievers, not a specific tribe, because the Messenger (peace and blessings be upon him) limited the children of Adam to a thousand, a thousand of Muslims, one, and the rest are Gog and Magog. So all disbelievers fit the description that they are Gog and Magog. He supported his saying by saying that the "ajij" (roar) is the roar of the fire when it burns, being disturbed and different, disturbed and different, and so are the disbelievers.
Their hearts and their eyes turn about, just as they did not believe in it the first time. Nay, they denied the truth when it came to them, so they are in a state of confusion.
He said: It is not intended that Gog and Magog are a specific tribe or two specific tribes, but all disbelievers are Gog and Magog. He made the "ajij" a conceptual roar, and that is due to the corruption of their ideas, the disturbance of their minds, and their lack of stability. And he said this hadith indicates this, because if from Gog and Magog of the children of Adam there are a thousand and nine hundred, yes, nine hundred and ninety-nine, one Muslim, this is for the children of Adam. And we do not know the children of Adam except as Muslim or disbeliever. So this indicates that the intended meaning of Gog and Magog in this hadith is all disbelievers. Then he said:
By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I Hope that you (Muslims) will be one third of the people of Paradise.
Sahih al-Bukhari 6530
He said: "So we praised Allah and magnified Him." Then he said:
By Him in Whose Hand my soul is, I hope that you will be one half of the people of Paradise, as your (Muslims) example in comparison to the other people (non-Muslims), is like that of a white hair on the skin of a black ox, or a round hairless spot on the foreleg of a donkey.
Sahih al-Bukhari 6530
So the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) swore an oath in this hadith without being asked to swear.
