Does Allah (Mighty and Majestic) hold those afflicted with obsessive-compulsive disorder accountable?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : He says: Does Allah (Mighty and Majestic) hold those afflicted with obsessive-compulsive disorder accountable? Please inform us of this.

The Shaykh : Allah does not hold accountable one who is afflicted with obsessive-compulsive disorder, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted:
Our Lord, and burden us not with that which we have no ability to bear رَبَّنَا وَلا تُحَمِّلْنَا مَا لا طَاقَةَ لَنَا بِهِ
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
and His saying the Exalted:
Allah does not charge a soul except [with that within] its capacity لا يُكَلِّفُ اللَّهُ نَفْسًا إِلَّا وُسْعَهَا
[Al-Baqarah 2:286]
But it is obligatory for one afflicted with obsessive-compulsive disorder to frequently seek refuge in Allah from the accursed Shaytan, and to distract himself from it and turn away from it, for whenever he does this, it will be removed from him by the permission of Allah.

The questioner : May Allah reward you, O honorable Shaykh, and may Allah bless you and your knowledge, and benefit the Muslims through you.
