Chapter: What is disliked regarding cursing the drinker of intoxicants, and that he is not one who has exited the religion

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : ... and you know that the word "donkey" in that era could be used to name a man; it has passed before you: from 'Iyad ibn Hammar.
Fine, and the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) used to laugh, so it is taken from this that there is no harm in a man laughing when he sees a person, whether for his lightness, his foolishness, or something similar.
And he used to drink, so one day he was brought to him and he ordered him to be flogged. A man from among the people said: "O Allah, curse him; how often he is brought!" He invoked a curse upon him. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
Do not curse him لا تلعنوه
This is a prohibition, and the prohibition here is for prohibition (tahrim), just as it was previously prohibited to say: "May Allah disgrace you," because when you curse him, you assist Satan against him, and Satan takes hold of him.
