Explanation of the Book of Fitnahs and Rulings-03a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Sa'id ibn Abi Maryam narrated to us, Muhammad ibn Ja'far informed us, from Shurayk ibn 'Abd Allah, from Sa'id ibn al-Musayyib, from Abu Musa al-Ash'ari, who said:
The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went out one day to a garden among the gardens of Madinah to relieve himself, and I went out after him. When he entered the garden, I sat at its gate and said, "I will be the gatekeeper of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) today," though he had not ordered me to do so. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) went and relieved himself, then sat on the bucket of the well, uncovered his legs, and lowered them into the well. Abu Bakr came to ask permission to enter, so I said, "Wait here until I ask permission for you." He stood, and I went to the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) and said, "O Prophet of Allah, Abu Bakr is asking permission to enter upon you." He said: "Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise." He entered and came to the right of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), uncovered his legs, and lowered them into the well. Then 'Umar came, and I said, "Wait here until I ask permission for you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise." He came to the left of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), uncovered his legs, and lowered them into the well, so the bucket became full and there was no place to sit. Then 'Uthman came, and I said, "Wait here until I ask permission for you." The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise, with a trial that will befall him." He entered and did not find a place to sit with them, so he moved until he came opposite them on the edge of the well, uncovered his legs, and then lowered them into the well. I kept wishing for a brother for myself and calling upon Allah to send one.
.
Ibn al-Musayyib said: "I interpreted that as their graves: they gathered here, and 'Uthman was separate."

The Shaykh : The witness in this hadith is the statement regarding 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him):
Give him permission and give him glad tidings of Paradise, with a trial that will befall him.
As-Sunan al-Kubra lil-Nasa'i 60:30
And in another wording:
the glad tidings of entering Paradise with a calamity which will befall him
Sahih al-Bukhari 6216
When he was given this condition, 'Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) said: "Allah is the One to be sought for help", meaning he knew that it would inevitably happen, but he asked Allah for help; Allah is the One to be sought for help.
