The Shaykh : The three were in one place, so the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him), Abu Bakr, and 'Umar were all in one chamber; their graves are one. They were buried together, and in this world they would go together and return together. And the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) always said: "I went with Abu Bakr and 'Umar," and "I came with Abu Bakr and 'Umar." So they are his two constant companions. And on the Day of Resurrection, they will emerge from their graves together. So they are all together in this world and the Hereafter. Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) sat facing them, and it was said "along with a trial that will befall him." And this trial is what happened to Uthman (may Allah be pleased with him) regarding the people's disagreement with him, their rising against him, and their killing him in his house (may Allah be pleased with him). They entered his house in Madinah and killed him while he was reciting the Qur'an, the Book of Allah was before him. Some historians mention that a drop of blood fell on his recitation of the verse of Allah the Exalted: [Al-Baqarah 2:137] So Allah knows best. But in any case, he (may Allah be pleased with him) is known for his frequent recitation and night prayer. So those transgressing oppressors entered upon him and killed him, and he was killed as a martyr. And thereby was fulfilled the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) when he ascended Mount Uhud. Mount Uhud in Madinah is well known and large. When he ascended it with Abu Bakr, 'Umar, and Uthman, the mountain trembled for them due to the signs of Allah. It was not a trembling of wrath or subsidence, but a trembling of joy. It trembled for them, and he said: Jami` at-Tirmidhi 3697Sahih (Darussalam) The Prophet is the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him), the truthful one is Abu Bakr, and the two martyrs are 'Umar and Uthman. And both of them (may Allah be pleased with them) were killed as martyrs. As for 'Umar, he was killed while leading the Muslims in the Fajr prayer, killed in the prayer niche. And as for Uthman, he was killed while performing night prayer in his house. May Allah be pleased with them both, and may He include us and you with them in the abode of eternal bliss. This story contains the glad tidings that the Messenger said, "Grant him permission and give him good news of Paradise," to Abu Bakr, 'Umar, and Uthman. May Allah be pleased with them all, and may He make us and you among those who will be gathered in the group of Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him and his family).
