Indeed, musical instruments are forbidden, as al-Bukhari narrated in his *Sahih* from Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:. The scholars said that "al-hir" means: unlawful sexual intercourse. Silk is well known to be forbidden for men, and intoxicants are well known to be forbidden by the Book, the Sunnah, and scholarly consensus. (44) So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were [then] in despair.
