The Ruling on Dancing and Music in Kindergartens

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
We have a kindergarten in Kuwait, and this kindergarten holds music and dancing for the children. Does a person sin if he sends his children there, or does he not sin?
A person commits a sin if he takes his children to this park; because dancing and music are forbidden. I direct my words to those responsible for these parks to fear Allah (Glorified and Exalted is He) regarding the children of Muslims, and not to accustom them to what Allah and His Messenger have forbidden. For musical instruments are forbidden, as al-Bukhari narrated in his Sahih from Abu Malik al-Ash'ari (may Allah be pleased with him) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "There will be people from my Ummah who will make lawful fornication, silk, wine, and musical instruments". By "fornication," the scholars mean zina. Silk is well known to be forbidden for men, and wine is well known to be forbidden by the Book, the Sunnah, and scholarly consensus. And musical instruments are: Instruments of amusement, which are forbidden.
Therefore, those in charge of these kindergartens must fear Allah, prevent musical instruments and dancing, and prepare the youth of the Islamic Ummah for jihad and exalting the word of Allah. How can a person's heart be at ease, or his soul be tranquil, while his brothers in Bosnia and Herzegovina are being slaughtered, and children are put in cement mixers to be mixed with the cement, and the honor of girls is violated? Where is Islam in our hearts? And where is Islam in a people who raise their children on what Allah has forbidden, while they know what is being done to their brothers in the corners of the earth? But, unfortunately, the hearts of some people have become hard, refuge with Allah, until they became like stones or even harder in hardness. We ask Allah for safety.

So I say to these people: Let them fear Allah regarding themselves and the youth of Muslims, and let them raise them with Islamic upbringing.
As for the people, I advise them and warn them against sending their children to these kindergartens, for they are sinners who assist in sin and aggression. It is likely that their children will not be dutiful to them when they grow up, and will not pray for them when they die; because they disobeyed Allah the Mighty and Majestic regarding them. It is likely that Allah will make these children disobey their fathers, just as their fathers disobeyed Allah regarding them, and He will let them loose upon them.

I say: May Allah reward you. It is not permissible for you to send your children to these kindergartens.

And I say: If it is absolutely necessary, it is obligatory for fathers to establish parks at their own expense, where there are Islamic manners, noble morals, and upbringing that directs them toward good. This is not difficult—praise be to Allah—for those in a place like Kuwait, who have, praise be to Allah, wealth and money of which Allah is aware. Then it is obligatory for our Kuwaiti brothers—and for us as well—to take a lesson from what happened two years ago, when Allah sent upon us our neighbors, who should have been with us, but they turned against us. Why do we not take a lesson? And do we feel safe now that one day such a disaster, or something worse, will not occur? It is never permissible for us to forget this disaster, lest the saying of Allah the Exalted be applied to us:
(44) So when they forgot that by which they had been reminded, We opened to them the doors of every [good] thing until, when they rejoiced in that which they were given, We seized them suddenly, and they were [then] in despair. (45) So the people that committed wrong were eliminated. And praise to Allah, Lord of the worlds.
[Al-An'am: 44-45] It is not permissible for us to be characterized by the traits of those about whom Allah said:
Then why, when Our punishment came to them, did they not humble themselves? But their hearts became hardened, and Satan made attractive to them that which they were doing.
[Al-An'am: 43].
