The Ruling on the Children of Disbelievers
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The first question of Fatwa No. ( 16466 )
Q 1: What is the ruling on the children of disbelievers and polytheists who die while they are young , do they enter Paradise or the Fire?
A 1: The ruling on the children of polytheists in this world is the same as the ruling on their fathers, but in the Hereafter, the correct of the opinions of the scholars regarding them is two: The first is that they will be tested regarding Islam, so whoever is saved from the trial enters Paradise, and whoever is not saved enters the Fire. This is by being called to Islam, so whoever responds enters Paradise, and whoever does not respond enters the Fire. The second is that they are from the people of Paradise; for what al-Bukhari narrated in his (Sahih) from the hadith of Samurah ibn Jundub that he (peace and blessings be upon him) saw them in a dream with Ibrahim (peace be upon him) in a meadow with the children of the Muslims. And because they died upon the fitrah (the innate natural disposition), their fathers did not make them Jews, nor did they make them Christians, nor did they make them Magians; for his saying (peace and blessings be upon him): The hadith is agreed upon by al-Bukhari and Muslim. The scholar Ibn al-Qayyim (may Allah have mercy on him) elaborated on the discussion of them at the end of his book (The Path of the Two Migrations and the Gate of the Two Felicitous Things), so refer to it for further benefit.
And success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.

No newborn is born except that he is born upon the fitrah (the innate natural disposition), and in another wording, except upon this religion, so his parents make him a Jew or a Christian or a Magian
ما من مولود إلا يولد على الفطرة وفي لفظ إلا على هذه الملة فأبواه يهودانه أو ينصرانه أو يمجسانهAnd success is from Allah, and may Allah send prayers and blessings upon our Prophet Muhammad and his family and his Companions.
