What is the ruling on one who slaughters for the jinn out of reverence for them or fear of them, and is informed that this is shirk (associating partners with Allah) but refuses and does it? Is he a mushrik (one who associates partners with Allah)?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : May Allah reward you. A man fell ill and went to fortune-tellers, and they asked him to slaughter for the jinn and hang hair and skin. He was informed with evidence that this is shirk (associating partners with Allah), but he refused and did it. Is it permissible to call him a mushrik (one who associates partners with Allah) after he was informed of the scriptural evidence? May Allah reward you?

The Shaykh : One who slaughters for the jinn out of reverence for them or fear of them, that is shirk (associating partners with Allah). And if a person is informed of this but persists in doing it, that is shirk (associating partners with Allah). But if he repents, even after he has done it, Allah will accept his repentance, by His saying:
Say to those who have disbelieved [that] if they cease, what has previously occurred will be forgiven for them قُلْ لِلَّذِينَ كَفَرُوا إِنْ يَنْتَهُوا يُغْفَرْ لَهُمْ مَا قَدْ سَلَفَ
[Al-Anfal 8:38]
, and by His saying:
Say, "O My servants who have transgressed against themselves [by sinning], do not despair of the mercy of Allah. Indeed, Allah forgives all sins. Indeed, it is He who is the Forgiving, the Merciful."
[Az-Zumar 39:53]
. We ask Allah the Exalted to forgive us and you, and to take care of us and you in this world and the Hereafter. Until we meet again, if Allah wills. And peace be upon you and the mercy of Allah and His blessings.
