The Shaykh : As for what follows: This is the "Open Door Meeting" that has reached its sixtieth session since its inception. It is the second meeting of the month of Muharram in the year 1415, and it is the seventh day of the month. In this meeting, we will discuss the saying of Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He: [Al-Ghashiyah 88:8-11] to the end of it.
Allah, Glorified and Exalted is He, divided the people on the Day of Resurrection into two groups:
The first group: faces toiling, humbled, and weary, and we have already spoken about that.
The second group: faces radiant, meaning: radiant with the joy and the great reward that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has given them, because they knew of it while they were in their graves. Indeed, the person in his grave is made comfortable; a door to Paradise is opened for him, and from its spirit and its bliss comes to him, so they are radiant.
Meaning: they are pleased with the work they did in this world, because through it they reached this bliss, this joy, and this happiness. So they are pleased with their striving, unlike the first group of faces, for they are angry, and may Allah protect us, and not pleased with what they have brought forth.
[Al-Haqqah 69:22] Paradise: it is the abode of bliss that Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has prepared for the awliya (close friends of Allah) on the Day of Resurrection. In it is what no eye has seen, no ear has heard, and what has not occurred to the heart of any human being. Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said: [As-Sajdah 32:17], and Allah, Blessed and Exalted is He, said: [Al-Mu'minun 23:1-2] to His saying: [Al-Mu'minun 23:10-11], and Allah the Exalted said: [Az-Zukhruf 43:71] So they are in a high Paradise. Height is the opposite of lowness, so it is above the seven heavens.
And it is known that on the Day of Resurrection the seven heavens and the earths will be removed, and nothing will remain except Paradise and the Fire. So it is high, and its highest and middle part is al-Firdaws, above which is the Throne of the Lord, Exalted and Majestic is He.
[Al-Ghashiyah 88:11] Rather, everything in it is earnest, everything in it is peace, everything in it is glorification, praise, the declaration of Allah's greatness, and the takbir. They are inspired with glorification just as they are inspired with breath, meaning: it does not burden them and they are not affected by it. So they are always in the remembrance of Allah, Mighty and Majestic, in glorification, intimacy, and joy. Some of them come to others, visiting one another, in a delight without parallel. We ask Allah to make us and you among its people.
[Al-Ghashiyah 88:12] And this spring, Allah, Mighty and Majestic, has made it rivers [Muhammad 47:15] flowing, meaning: they flow wherever their people wish. They do not need to dig a canal or establish a trench, as Ibn al-Qayyim, may Allah have mercy on him, said: "Its rivers flow in no trench *** Glory to the One who holds them back from overflowing".
[Al-Ghashiyah 88:13-16] Look at the contrast: [Al-Ghashiyah 88:13] high, they sit upon them, they enjoy themselves [Ya-Sin 36:56]
Al-akwab is the plural of kub, which is the cup and the like. Meaning: they are not lifted away from them, rather they are placed for them, and whenever they wish, they drink from them from these four rivers that were mentioned previously.
He the Exalted said:[Al-Ghashiyah 88:15-16] Al-nimarq is the plural of nimrah, which is the cushion or what one leans upon, arranged in the best manner. The eye delights in them before the body delights in leaning upon them.
Al-zarabi: the highest types of carpets. Spread out in every place. Do not think that these cushions, these cups, these couches, and these carpets resemble what is in this world. For if they resembled what is in this world, we would know the bliss of the Hereafter and know its reality. But they do not resemble it, due to the saying of Allah the Exalted: [As-Sajdah 32:17] Only the names are the same, but the realities are different. For this reason, Ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with him and his father, said: "There is nothing in the Hereafter from what is in this world except the names only" So we do not know the reality of these blessings mentioned in Paradise, even though we see what corresponds to them in name in this world, but there is a difference between this and that.
Then He the Exalted said:[Al-Ghashiyah 88:17] And the discussion of this, if Allah wills, will be in an upcoming meeting. Now, to the questions, and we start from the right. The rule with us is that we do not listen to more than one question, and no comment on it either, so that there is justice among the brothers present, and each one gets what Allah wills of the question. Yes.
(8) [Other] faces, that Day, will show pleasure. (9) With their effort [they are] satisfied (10) In an elevated garden, (11) Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.
Pleased with their striving
In an elevated garden,
And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do.
(1) Certainly will the believers have succeeded: (2) They who are during their prayer humbly submissive
And those who are doers of zakah
(10) Those are the inheritors (11) Who will inherit al-Firdaus. They will abide therein eternally.
And therein is whatever the souls desire and [what] delights the eyes, and you will abide therein eternally.
And it is known that on the Day of Resurrection the seven heavens and the earths will be removed, and nothing will remain except Paradise and the Fire. So it is high, and its highest and middle part is al-Firdaws, above which is the Throne of the Lord, Exalted and Majestic is He.
Wherein they will hear no unsuitable speech.
Within it is a flowing spring.
فِيهَا عَيْنٌ جَارِيَةٌwherein are rivers of water unaltered, rivers of milk the taste of which never changes, rivers of wine delicious to those who drink, and rivers of purified honey
(13) Within it are couches raised high (14) And cups put in place (15) And cushions lined up (16) And carpets spread around.
Within it are couches raised high
They and their spouses - in shade, reclining on adorned couches.
And cups set down
Set down
He the Exalted said:
(15) And cushions lined up (16) And carpets spread around.
And carpets spread out
Spread out
And no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do.
Then He the Exalted said:
