Exegesis of the saying of Allah the Exalted: (And carpets spread out)
Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Ghashiyah: 16] The carpets: the highest types of rugs. ((Spread out)) means distributed everywhere. Do not think that these rugs, cushions, couches, and carpets resemble what is in this world; for if they resembled what is in this world, we would know the blessings of the Hereafter and know their reality, but they do not resemble what is in this world, as Allah the Exalted said: [As-Sajdah: 17] , so the names are the same, but the realities are different. For this reason, Ibn 'Abbas (may Allah be pleased with him and his father) said: [There is nothing in the Hereafter from what is in this world except the names only] So we do not know the reality of these blessings mentioned in Paradise, even though we see what corresponds to them in name in this world, but there is a difference between this and that.
Then Allah the Exalted said: [Al-Ghashiyah: 17] And the discussion of this, if Allah wills, will be in an upcoming session, and now to the questions.
Allah the Exalted said:
And carpets spread out
وَزَرَابِيُّ مَبْثُوثَةٌAnd no soul knows what has been hidden for them of comfort for eyes as reward for what they used to do.
فَلا تَعْلَمُ نَفْسٌ مَا أُخْفِيَ لَهُمْ مِنْ قُرَّةِ أَعْيُنٍ جَزَاءً بِمَا كَانُوا يَعْمَلُونَThen Allah the Exalted said:
