The Shaykh : Therefore, we see that although it is permissible for him to break his fast because he is a traveler, he should not postpone it until the second year, lest it accumulate upon him and he become unable to make it up.
As for the rawatib (regular voluntary prayers), you and others hold the well-known view among them that a traveler does not perform voluntary prayers. This is the well-known view among many people, or most people, and this is an error. A traveler performs voluntary prayers just as a resident does, in every respect: the night prayer, the Duha prayer, and the Witr prayer, everything. Except for three voluntary prayers, which are: the rawatib of the Zuhr prayer, the rawatib of the Maghrib prayer, and the rawatib of the Isha' prayer. The Sunnah is not to pray them. As for the rest of the voluntary prayers, they remain as they were.
Therefore, the phrase, which is incorrect, is said: "It is from the Sunnah in travel to leave the Sunnah!" Where did this statement come from? "It is from the Sunnah to leave the Sunnah?" No, it is from the Sunnah to leave the three rawatib that we mentioned, which are: the rawatib of what? Zuhr, Maghrib, and Isha'. The rest remains as it is. Yes, from the right, from the left.

The questioner : In a question, O Shaykh.

The Shaykh : Yes
