Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: And Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us, saying: Layth narrated to us from 'Aqil from al-Zuhri from 'Ali ibn Husayn that al-Husayn ibn 'Ali narrated to him from 'Ali ibn Abi Talib: That the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) came to visit him and Fatimah and said: "Will you not pray?" I said: "O Messenger of Allah, our souls are in the hand of Allah, so if He wills to send us forth, He will send us forth." The Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) turned away when I said that to him, and then I heard him, as he was going away, striking his thigh and saying: "And man was indeed the most argumentative of all things".
