Benefits of the Hadith: (… from Ibn 'Umar from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) who said: “Make some of your prayers in your homes and do not make them into graves.”)

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh :
Make some of your prayers اجعلوا من صلاتكم
And this “some” indicates partiality. Is this partiality here with regard to the obligatory and voluntary prayers, or with regard to the voluntary prayers, since it is known necessarily that the obligatory prayer is in the mosque? There is a possibility, and the apparent meaning of the heading is that it is according to the second possibility, meaning make some of your voluntary prayers [in your homes]. This would be evidence for the permissibility of voluntary prayer in the mosque. Voluntary prayers are divided into two categories: a category for which congregation is prescribed, and this is recommended in the mosque, such as the prayer for rain, the eclipse prayer according to the view that it is a recommended practice, and the standing in night prayer in Ramadan. And another category for which congregation is not recommended, and it is better for this to be in the home. And his saying (peace and blessings be upon him)
and do not make them into graves ولا تتخذوها قبورا
But the context indicates that the meaning is do not make them like graveyards, and the Companions knew that graveyards are not a place for prayer.
