Benefits of the Hadith: (… he listened to a man reciting in the mosque and said: May Allah have mercy on him, he reminded me of a verse I had forgotten).

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : This hadith contains several benefits. First: the permissibility of the more knowledgeable person listening to the less knowledgeable one in recitation, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) listened to this man’s recitation. Marwa said to Ibn Mas'ud: "Recite to me." He said: "O Messenger of Allah, should I recite the Qur'an to you, when it was revealed to you?" He said: "Yes, I love to hear it from …" So he recited to him from Surat al-Nisa, until he reached the words of the Exalted: "So how will it be when We bring from every nation a witness, and bring you as a witness over these?" The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said: "That is enough." So I looked, and behold, his eyes were shedding tears., because this is a great scene in which a witness is brought from every nation, and Muhammad (peace and blessings be upon him) is brought as a witness over this nation.
This hadith also provides evidence for making du'a for the one who reminds you of something you had forgotten, because the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him and his family) made du'a for him. Likewise, one should make du'a for anyone who does you good, whether they are listening or not.
One of the benefits of this hadith is the permissibility of forgetfulness on the part of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him and his family), because Allah made him forget this verse.
Another benefit of these hadiths is that if a person forgets something from the Qur'an, not out of negligence or disdain for the Qur'an, he does not commit a sin. However, the hadiths that mention a threat for the one who forgets something from the Qur'an that he had memorized while healthy are subject to scrutiny. But if they are authentic, they are interpreted to apply when a person forgets something from the Qur'an out of carelessness, negligence, or the like.
One of the benefits of this hadith is the permissibility for a person praying alone to recite aloud. This applies if the man is praying; if he is not praying, this benefit does not apply or is not derived from this hadith. Yes.
It also contains evidence that when a person forgets something from the Qur'an, he should not say "I forgot," but rather "I was made to forget." It is well known that the One who made him forget is Allah (Mighty and Majestic). Yes.
