His statement: (Give in charity) — is it done by serving food at gatherings?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The questioner : His statement:
So when you see it, give in charity فإذا رأيتموه تصّدقوا
Does this mean that this is a specific charity of food in the streets?

The Shaykh : Does anyone do this?

The questioner : Yes.

The Shaykh : If the charity does not reach the poor except through this method, then there is no harm. However, if they set it up as if it were a wedding feast, then no. In my opinion, it is not held in this manner unless the people will have joy and celebration. And I, Allah knows, see that it should not be done. A person should take his food out and give it to the poor. As for lighting fires, setting up pots, and making it as the common people say, "a commotion", I do not see this.
