Does charity reach the deceased?

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
Question:
The questioner, Muhammad 'Ayd, asks in his second question: Your Eminence, we wish to know if charity reaches the deceased based on the intention? For example, if we slaughter a sheep and invite the neighbors and relatives to eat from it, does this charity reach the deceased?

Answer:
Yes, charity reaches the deceased, whether the charity is in money, food, clothing, endowments, or otherwise. If one holds a feast and invites the poor to it, or honors relatives, kin, and neighbors with it, intending the reward of that for his father, or his brother, or his mother, or the like, he obtains great good thereby. The scholars have agreed that charity reaches the deceased, and its reward reaches the deceased. Many hadiths have come regarding this from the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) that he was asked about it. A woman said to him: “O Messenger of Allah! My mother died and she did not leave a bequest. Will she have a reward if I give charity on her behalf?” He said:
Yesنعم
. And a man asked him the same, and he said:
Yesنعم
. So charity reaches the deceased, and likewise supplication for them, seeking forgiveness for them, sending blessings upon them, Hajj and 'Umrah, and the 'Id sacrifice; all of that reaches them. Yes.

The presenter: May Allah reward you and bless you.
