Benefits of the Hadith: (Food for food, like for like)
Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The Shaykh : Now, among the benefits of this hadith are:
First: that the sale of food for food must be of the same kind, based on the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):.
Second: it clarifies the state of the Companions (may Allah be pleased with them) regarding their passion for life, and that their food was barley, which in our time cannot be considered food for humans.
And in this is evidence that providing people with wealth and sons does not indicate that they are the best of generations, for without doubt the best of generations are the Companions, and yet this was their condition in the era of their Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him).
And among the benefits of this hadith is the permissibility of a person informing about himself, even if the information indicates misery, based on his saying:.
And when a person informs about himself in a way that indicates misery, it is not free from one of three possibilities:
Either the intention is merely to inform, or the intention is to complain about the divine decree, or the intention is to complain to a created being:
As for the first, there is nothing wrong with it, and Lot (peace be upon him) said to the angels:.
As for the second, which intends to complain and blame the divine decree, this is not permissible. Allah the Exalted said in the Qudsi hadith:Sunan Abi Dawud 5274Sahih (Al-Albani).
As for the third, which intends to complain to a created being, this is undoubtedly also not permissible. It is not permissible for a person to complain about the Creator to a creation, because the creation does not have mercy on you, but Allah has mercy on you. For this reason, it was said:
"And when I complain to the son of Adam, I am only *** complaining to the One who does not have mercy about the Merciful".
And this is correct. It is not permissible for a person to complain about the Creator (Mighty and Majestic) to anyone, so how much more so if he complains to a weak creation? If that creation were afflicted with what you are afflicted with, could he remove it from himself?!
The student: No.
