The reciter: And Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us from Malik ibn Anas, in what was read to him, from Abdullah ibn Abi Bakr, from his father, from 'Amrah bint 'Abd al-Rahman, that she informed him Sahih Muslim 932c.
The Shaykh : Look at the good speech! She first asked for forgiveness for him, because she thought he had made a mistake in that or forgotten, and this is how it should be. But we find that some people now, when they want to respond to someone, their speech reeks of filth and a foul odor, and they speak ill when responding to him, and this is wrong. And it has been mentioned previously regarding her statement (may Allah be pleased with her) that what she mentioned about the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) does not contradict what Ibn 'Umar mentioned, because the Jewish woman who is punished in her grave is punished with a punishment of retribution, whereas if a Muslim is mourned for, his punishment is a punishment of pain only.
'Amra daughter of 'Abd al Rahman narrated that she heard (from) 'A'isha and made a mention to her about 'Abdullah b. 'Umar as saying: The dead is punished because of the lamentation of the living. Upon this 'A'isha said: May Allah have mercy upon the father of 'Abd al-Rahman (Ibn 'Umar). He did not tell a lie, but he forgot or made a mistake. The Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) happened to pass by a (dead) Jewess who was being lamented. Upon this he said: They weep over her and she is being punished in the grave.
The Shaykh : Look at the good speech!
