The reciter: And Qutaybah ibn Sa'id narrated to us from Malik ibn Anas, in what was read to him, from Muhammad ibn Amr ibn Halhalah, from Ma'bad ibn Ka'b ibn Malik, from Abu Qatadah ibn Rib'i, that he used to narrate Muwatta Malik 16:56
The Shaykh : As for the believer, he finds rest from the toil of this world because he moves to something better than this world, as Allah (Blessed and Exalted is He) said:[Al-A'la 87:16-17] And as for the disbeliever, the people, the lands, the trees, and the animals find rest from him. The lands and the people, because the wicked one, may Allah protect us from that, is a sinner and may even be a disbeliever, as the Exalted said: [Al-Mutaffifin 83:7] Disbelief, open sinfulness, and disobedience are causes of evil and corruption. Allah the Exalted said: [Ar-Rum 30:41] So if a disbeliever dies, especially if he is openly committing evil, corruption, and aggression against the Muslims, we say: this is one from whom rest is found; the people, the lands, the trees, and the animals have found rest from him. The trees, because the wickedness of this sinner is a cause for the drought of rain and the scarcity of vegetation. When the rain becomes scarce, the trees are affected, they do not grow, and they do not flourish. Likewise, the animals, for the animals graze, so if there is no vegetation, there is no grazing. The cause of the scarcity of vegetation is the drought, and the cause of the drought is sins. [Nuh 71:10-12]

They said, "Who is the one relieved and the one from whom others are relieved?" He said, "A slave who is mumin is the one who is relieved from the exhaustion and suffering of this world to the mercy of Allah, and a wrong-acting slave is the one from whom people, towns, trees and animals are relieved."
