The reciter: Sa'id ibn Mansur and Abu Kamil both narrated to us from Abu Awana. Sa'id said: Abu Awana narrated to us from Ibrahim ibn Muhammad ibn al-Muntashir from his father, who said:
I asked Abdullah ibn Umar (may Allah be pleased with them both) about a man who applies perfume and then becomes in the state of ihram in the morning? He said: I do not like to become in the state of ihram in the morning while I have applied perfume; I would rather be smeared with pitch than do that. So I went in to Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) and informed her that Ibn Umar said: I do not like to become in the state of ihram in the morning while I have applied perfume; I would rather be smeared with pitch than do that. So I went in to Aisha and informed her that Ibn Umar said: I do not like to become in the state of ihram in the morning while I have applied perfume; I would rather be smeared with pitch than do that! Aisha said: I applied perfume to the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) when he entered the state of ihram, then he went around his wives, and then he became in the state of ihram in the morning.
