The Book of Hajj-05a

Machine translationRead the Arabic original
The reciter: Abu Bakr ibn Abi Shaybah, Muhammad ibn al-Muthanna, and Ibn Bashir all narrated to us from Ghandar. Ibn al-Muthanna said: He said: Muhammad ibn Ja'far narrated to us, from Shu'bah, from al-Hakam, from 'Ali ibn al-Husayn, from Dhikwan, the freed slave of 'Aishah, from 'Aishah (may Allah be pleased with her), who said:
‘A’isha said: God’s messenger came on the fourth or fifth of Dhul Hijja and came to visit me in a state of anger. I said, “Who has angered you, messenger of God? May God send him to hell!” He replied, “Are you not aware that I gave the people a command, yet they are confused? قدم رسول الله صلّى الله عليه وسلّم لأربعٍ مضين من ذي الحجّة ، أو خمسٍ ، فدخل عليّ وهو غضبان فقلت : من أغضبك ، يا رسول الله ؟ أدخله الله النّار ، قال : أوما شعرت أنّي أمرت النّاس بأمرٍ ، فإذا هم يتردّدون ؟
Mishkat al-Masabih 2560
- Al-Hakam said: It was as if they were hesitating. I think -
If I had known beforehand about my affair what I have come to know later, I would not have brought the sacrificial animals with me, but would have waited to buy some, and then I could have put off the ihram as they have done.
Mishkat al-Masabih 2560
.

The Shaykh : In this is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
had I known before hand about my affair what I have come to know later
Sunan Abi Dawud 1789Sahih (Al-Albani)
. The phrase "had I known" was not mentioned in this hadith. The texts indicate that the use of "if" (law) is divided into categories:
The first category is that it is for mere wishing. This is according to what a person wishes for; if he wishes for good, it is for him, and if he wishes for evil, it is for him. Among this is the hadith:
If I had what so-and-so has, I would have done what so-and-so did
. This is for wishing, and the saying of the one who says:
If I had money, I would give charity from it
.
The second is that it is for mere information. This is also permissible, such as: "If you had visited me, I would have honored you," or "If you had come yesterday, I would not have traveled," and the like. This is pure information, and it is described as either true or false. If the person is truthful, he owes nothing, and if he is lying...
Among this is the saying of the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him):
If I had known beforehand about my affair what I have come to know later, I would not have brought the sacrificial animals with me, but would have waited to buy some, and then I could have put off the ihram as they have done.
Mishkat al-Masabih 2560
. It appears that this is mere information, and not a wish contrary to what happened.
The third is that the intention is regret and lamentation over what has occurred. This is what the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) forbade in his saying:
A strong believer is better and is more lovable to Allah than a weak believer, and there is good in everyone, (but) cherish that which gives you benefit (in the Hereafter) and seek help from Allah and do not lose heart, and if anything (in the form of trouble) comes to you, don't say: If I had not done that, it would not have happened so and so, but say: Allah did that what He had ordained to do and your" if" opens the (gate) for the Satan.
Sahih Muslim 2664
.
This is what is forbidden, because, as the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) said:
It opens the work of Satan
. It opens for the person the door of regret and lamentation, saying, "I wish I had not done it!" The Islamic religion wants its followers to be in a state of constant joy.
In it is evidence that bringing the sacrificial animals prevents exiting the state of ihram.
